Coaching | Strategy | Executive Education | International Business

As a coach, advisor, and teacher I draw on 40 years of international experience in executive education, business consulting, and trade diplomacy in North America, Latin America, China, South East Asia, Eastern Europe, Greece, Turkey, and New Zealand.

In 2015 /16 I provided expertise for the Massey University Business School in several areas (including international re-accreditation, MBA teaching and coaching input for the 2015 and 2016 Fonterra Governance Development programme). I also chaired the Albany Community Council in 2015.

I have taught executives at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School, the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management and La Verne University in California as well as Tec de Monterrey in Mexico and programs in Singapore. I was Assistant Dean at the Pepperdine University Graziadio Graduate School of Business & Management in Los Angeles prior to joining The University of Auckland Business School in 2007 as Director of Academic Programs. Between 2007 and 2014, I restructured and repositioned the Business School’s Executive MBA programmes to focus on applied professional development and leadership coaching. I also taught the applied International Business course in the MBA programme.

In my diplomatic career, I served as Second Secretary Commercial in Washington D.C., then as Chargé d’Affaires and Counsellor Commercial in Athens, Greece before establishing the New Zealand Embassy in Ankara, Turkey as Head of Mission. I then moved to Los Angeles as the New Zealand Government’s first regional trade director for North & South America, before being invited to join the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.

As well as consulting internationally, I have presented at conferences and seminars in Canada, Finland, France, Mexico, New Zealand, and the United States. In addition to executive development, I have a particular interest in applied strategic coaching and have worked internationally with a wide range of business sectors including Latino business groups in California and Māori enterprises in New Zealand.

In 2013 I was elected Chair of the Executive MBA Council, a global organisation involving 240 leading business schools worldwide. I am a longtime advocate of professionalism in executive education and pioneered leadership coaching in New Zealand MBA programmes.

I graduated M.A. Hons from the University of Canterbury and completed the Advanced Executive Leadership programme at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, USA. I hold a certificate in Coaching, Leadership & Change from Case Western University, USA.

It is a pleasure to meet someone with such a wealth of experience and knowledge. It was also interesting watching you at work and actually understanding what you were saying!!
